G3 in motion... Dance Classes and Workshops with Hans Gonzalez

"What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him."
1 Corintians 2:9

Hans M. Gonzalez was born in the beautiful islands of the Philippines, in the city of Manila, to Rodolfo Maria Gonzalez (R.I.P.) and Edna Dizon Flores. By the time he was 14 years old, he moved with his uncle to the United States leaving behind everything that was familiar and comfortable.

His adolescent years were spent in Las Vegas, where he attended high school and subsequently the University of Nevada Las Vegas. In the summer following his freshman year, he registered for a beginning ballroom class where he learned various dances ranging from Cha-cha to Slow Foxtrot. By the end of the summer ballroom class, he was asked by the dance instructor, Donna Medrano (R.I.P.), to tryout for the university ballroom dance team, which he did.

Within ten years, he managed to place within the top six of various national competitions, win the Collegiate Amateur title, and capture the United States Amateur Latin-dance title in Cha-cha, Rumba, Samba, and Jive. In addition, Hans also taught at Genesis DanceSport Academy: a San Francisco Russian competitive ballroom dance school for children. While there, he coached several pre-teen(ages 7-10) and junior couples(ages 11-16) who attained top three placements in the United States Junior Ballroom Dancing National Championship. But the death of his dear friend, Dorota Kopiczko, in the September 11th terrorist attack had forced him to ask the question, "Will I be ready when it's my turn?"

His response to this question was a deep sense of desire to re-acquaint himself with his faith. He decided to stop competing to dedicate more time to his search. He joined the young adult's group at his parish, St. Dominic's Catholic Church, in San Francisco, where he now lives. It was through that spirit-filled community, led by Scott Moyer, that the idea for the spiritual dance workshop came about.

Hans studied in the Instute of Spirituality, at Pontificia Universita San Tommaso D'Aquino in Urbe, in Rome, Italy. In his spare time, he also teaches at G Action Dancesport Academy where he trains future competitive children between the ages of 4 to 10 years old.
